Teedie Tuttle, Founder of the John Blue Cotton Festival

The 2009 annual John Blue Cotton Festival was a great success. Though cloudy skies threatened to spoil the weekend, many people attended the two day event. The beauty and history of rural Scotland County was uniquely displayed, and would have been enjoyed immensely by the founder of the festival, Mrs. Lucretia Love Tuttle. Better known to all of Scotland County as "Teedie," Mrs. Tuttle would take her fifth grade students on tours of historical homes in the county. These tours expanded to allow children from all of the elementary schools to visit and see demonstrations of many craftsmen and collectors. In 1983, this event became the John Blue Cotton Festival. We honor and offer our appreciation to Teedie for her dedication to the festival and all of Scotland County.
